Thank you for taking a few minutes to read this. I’m thinking through a possible direction for my photography work, and I’m asking a small group of people whose perspective I trust for honest feedback.
This idea came from something personal. Last year, I realized my parents have crossed 80. Because of distance and how often I’m realistically able to visit, I had this uncomfortable thought -- If I’m lucky, I might only see them 10 or 12 more times. That hit me harder than I expected.
It made me think about the photographs I have of them and whether I’ll wish later that I had done more to preserve this stage of their lives.
That has led me to wonder whether there is something meaningful in creating portrait sessions specifically for people at our stage of life who have aging parents. Not in an overly sentimental way but as a way to preserve something while we still can.
I’m trying to understand whether this idea feels meaningful to other people, or if it was just my emotional reaction? Is this something others might see as worthwhile or is it completely unnecessary? What might make it valuable and what might make it uncomfortable or impractical.
This is not a sales page. I’m not asking you to book anything nor will I... This is purely research to understand whether this is an idea worth exploring in the coming months... The form allows me to capture data in a meaningful way. Please answer candidly. Short answers are completely fine.
I appreciate your cooperation!!
